Humanity has been actively debating

1) Who decides?

2) Who works for how long?

3) And who gets what?

For thousands of years.

Capitalism pulled a big switcheroo on top-down, inherited autocracy. When capitalism came along, many thought it a big improvement that would give opportunity to a lot of folks.

Of course, capitalism has showed its dark side.

We are now re-writing all the social rules, re-thinking capitalism, adjusting to technology, recognizing that 8-billion people and their technology have a big impact on the environment... and debating

1) Who decides?

2) Who works for how long?

3) And who gets what?

This time, though, a lot more people have agency, and it's a damn loud conversation.
