SignalGate: Government Lying Makes Me Sad
Especially when mainstream media is telling the truth
If you didn’t hear about it, the new US Administration just stepped into its first big scandal: SignalGate. I don’t know about you, but it makes me sad.
The same folks who slammed Hillary Clinton for using a private email server (likely keeping her from becoming POTUS) and the Biden administration for military incompetence (dooming his chance of a 2nd term) just accidentally leaked plans for attacking the Houthis in Yemen.
It was Day 54 of Trump ’47 for anyone counting.
The Signal
It just so happened that the scandal involved
- using a private communication service rather than Department of Defense tools and
- divulging the details of a U.S. military attack on foreign soil more than two hours before the bombs were scheduled to fall.
Jeffrey Goldberg, Editor of the Atlantic, shared the news that he had been invited by Mark Waltz, National Security Adviser, into a Signal chat group. Over the course of the next week Mr. Goldberg stayed quiet and watched a discussion unfold among the leaders of the new American regime until the bombs actually fell on Houthi rebel leadership and facilities in Yemen.
